I’ve been called a jack of all trades, a unicorn, and a one-person wrecking crew…

But all in a good way. What I really am is your agency’s creative team staffing solution. With decades of experience in the world of design and marketing, I’ll step into your organization’s workflow to provide one or more of a range of services.

Agencies need good contractors. I’ve taken Gary with me into multiple agency positions because working with him is an absolute pleasure. As a multifaceted expert in web design and development, Gary effortlessly integrates into the team as a plug-and-play resource, delivering exceptional results.

What about communication?

I bridge the gap between design and development teams because I speak both languages. Another language I speak?

Client.

I can be as active in client meetings as makes sense for your account, driving discovery, updates, and project presentations. I find it makes it easier on everyone when the developer can speak directly to creative decisions. Whether it’s a short-term project or a long-term partnership, I bring a hands-on approach to every task. My goal is to integrate seamlessly with your team to help deliver the functional, visually compelling work your clients demand.

Need answers? Just ask!

Find out how I bridge the gap between design and development to deliver great results and keep everyone on the same page.

Frankly, it’s both. I began my professional career as a graphic designer creating digital advertising for the newspaper industry. But years before that, I started learning how to code in high school and fell in love with it. After college, I married the two and now I’m able to look at a project from both designer and developer perspectives which allows me to anticipate needs and solve problems before they begin.

Independent contractors can be a tricky bunch. You oftentimes have to rely on a project or account manager to relay information to the contractor and then take their answers back and correctly recite it to the client. I pride myself on integrating with your agency so that you, your team, and your clients consider me just another member of the company. I can lead discovery meetings based on my or your discovery protocols, be able to provide insights or feedback in a meeting, and anything in between. That way, communication is one less area of concern when working with an outside resource.

I certainly can. In addition to web design and WordPress development, I can also create pretty much any kind of print media you can think of, produce digital/social media marketing, develop marketing strategies, and even create the occasional custom WordPress plugin. In addition to all of that, I support my completed website projects and have even been contracted by some to manage the hosting for their entire agency, operating in a web support capacity.

But if you think you’ve got something that will stump me, feel free to get in touch and we can work through the problem together.

I have over 20 years of experience in this world. I’ve been creating websites since I was a teenager, went to college for graphic design, and have spent the better part of the last decade working specifically as an independent contractor with nearly a dozen different agencies and clients of varying sizes and industries.

The biggest thing is communication. Clients, project managers, support staff, designers, developers, directors of operation, I’ve worked closely with all of them. I’m able to break down projects and the status of progress with anyone in your organization and help to create a comfortable relationship for us to thrive in together.

Everything starts with a conversation, and from there we can decide things like a contract, retainer, hourly, and all of the details I haven’t already mentioned. I’m a very flexible person, which is one of the reasons I’ve been able to thrive as a contractor and help agencies and companies reach their goals and have successful projects.

I believe with a great deal of confidence that no project in the history of marketing has ever gone without a single change. It’s just the nature of the beast.

A quick discussion and a change of scope document with a signature and we’re in business. I like to make things that are typically an afterthought as easy to manage as possible.

Just send me a message! I’m the kind of person who will check my email constantly. You won’t have to wait long to get a response and from there we can get a call on the books to talk about your goals and what success looks like to you and your team.

Then we should definitely have a conversation! I work not only with marketing agencies as their internal solution, but I just as easily embed with businesses with little or no help in their marketing department and handle a broad swath of internal and external marketing needs. This is a great path to having high-quality deliverables without having to employ an entire design team within your company’s marketing department.

I actually didn’t do those. But I’m happy to recommend the talented artist who did. My wife, Danylle Leonard, is a skilled artist/marketing expert/designer/developer and I’m fortunate to be able to recommend working with her too!

Let’s have a conversation.

I’m happy to talk out a problem with a client or consult on a current or upcoming project. Connect via email or LinkedIn, or submit a message and I’ll be in touch quickly.
